Conference Structure
A Conference is only as good as its participantsPreConference
PreConference sessions at Learning2 offer participants a chance to take an in-depth look at various topics, with a focus on hands-on and active learning that is difficult to do in shorter sessions.
These sessions are designed to be facilitated in active groups. The minimum number of participants required is approximately 8 and the maximum number will vary based on the precon presenter. If your selected preconference does not have the minimum number of participants then it will be cancelled and you will have the option of selecting another session or receiving a full refund.
Extended Sessions
Extend your learning in two extended sessions. We go above and beyond to seek out cutting edge practitioners who are skillful presenters. Our extended sessions aim to foster creativity whilst focusing on the practical guidance you can apply on your first day back from the conference. Our extended sessions empower the collective wisdom of your colleagues. Come ready to collaborate and innovate with an inspired cohort of learning engineers.
The extended sessions will be held on Friday and on Saturday and each participant will choose two options upon registration.
Student Workshops
Cohorts
We recognise that participants need common spaces to share their experiences & extend their learning. This year at Learning2, we will form cohorts of participants organised by curriculum/common interest groupings. On sign-up, we will ask participants to nominate a cohort they want to ‘hang out with’ at the conference.
The cohort concept will be facilitated by a cohort facilitator and supported by three face-to-face (f2f) opportunities at the conference to establish those vital personal connections. The cohort facilitator will promote sharing and collaboration in the cohort so that cohort members can place what they have learned within the context of their positions as well as to strengthen their connections across the region. If you are interested in getting involved and facilitating a cohort, please be sure to indicate this on your registration form.
L2 Talks
This is not a conference where you will sit and be lectured at by one person for an hour. Rather, we know that educators can do much with a little inspiration. The L2 Talks is our way of igniting that flame so that the sessions and workshops you attend can fuel them further. Each L2 talk is short, passionate, and relevant. Check out what Learning2 Leaders have shared in years past by touring our playlist on Youtube available here.
Workshops

Unconference
An unconference is an opportunity for you to take charge of the learning. In a traditional conference setting, the session topics are decided in advance by the conference committee and you, the participant, need to choose the workshop that is the best fit.
In an unconference, all of the sessions are proposed while the conference is happening! If you’ve just been introduced to a topic or tool and want to explore it further, propose it as an unconference session. If there is an idea that you have that you’d like to bounce off of other people, propose it as an unconference session. If you’d like to get some classroom partners at other schools to work with you on an upcoming unit, propose it as an unconference session. These are just some ideas. Anything can be proposed as an unconference session. You, the participants, are in total control of your learning.
As unconference sessions are being proposed, other participants will vote on the ones that sound interesting to them. You can vote for as many sessions as you like. If it is something that you would like to attend, walk by and put a tick on the proposal sheet. The proposals that receive the most votes will be given a time and place, and anybody who is interested in discussing that topic can attend. If the unconference workshop that you were hoping to go to doesn’t get enough interest, maybe you can find at least one other person to chat with about it and you can make your own unconference session!
Once the session gets going, it is up to the participants to drive the conversation and learning forward. There may or may not be an ‘expert’ in the room. Unconferencing is about exploring and being an active learner and about everybody helping the other participants in their session.
Code of Conduct
Learning 2.0 Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at Learning 2.0 are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.

The Quick Version
Learning 2.0 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of members of our community in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing #learning2 shirts. You can also email them directly or send an email to info@learning2.asia.
Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events.
